Checklist to Shoot in China

As your dedicated fixer team for seamless China/Hong Kong filming support, here is a curated guide to ensure your team's success

1. Visa & Permits

Secure filming permits at least 4-6 weeks in advance for locations like historical sites or public spaces. In Hong Kong, separate permissions are needed.

Depending on the circumstances, make sure all crew members have valid business visas (M/F visas) and that equipment is cleared via ATA Carnet to prevent customs delays. For J2 visa, we need 6-8 weeks.

2. Local Apps

Translation: Download translation apps for real - time communication.

Payment: Install Alipay/WeChat Pay since cash is seldom accepted in cities.

Transport: Use Baidu Map or Amap as your navigation tool. For ride - hailing, use Didi (China Uber) and for subway maps, use MetroMan.

Accommodation:Use Trip.com to book the accomodation.

Connectivity: Use a VPN such as Astrill or ExpressVPN to access blocked platforms like Google Workspace, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Ask your fixer to prepare a local SIM card for daily communication.

3. Cultural Sensitivity

Research local customs. For instance, China has 56 ethnic groups, each with distinct cultural differences. Don't film religious ceremonies without explicit permission.
